(b) Table 1 summarizes the data from two pumps that are capable of delivering 200 hp to an industrial application. A group of engineering economy classes is assigned to evaluate and choose the suitable pump in terms of economical aspects in a year. The selected pump will be utilized for a year only, and it will have no market value at the end of the year. Compare the pump that will be selected if: i) the electric power costs RM0.40/kWh and the pump will be operated for 4000 hours per year. ii) the cost of electricity is RM0.50/kWh and operated same hour as (1).
