A pre-tensioned concrete rectangular beam is 300mm wide and 600mm deep. The tendons are provide at a height of 20mm above the soffit. The initial applied prestressing force is 1500kN which eventually reduces to 1350kN after losses. The span of the beam is 15m. The live load of the beam consists of two point loads of 35kN each at a distance of 4.5m and 10.5m from one end. Find the extreme fiber stresses at mid span (i) Under the initial prestress and no live load (ii) under final condition after all losses and full live load. Assume specific gravity of concrete as 25kN/m³
