ank T-1 has air flow input from a compressor. A normally closedsolenoidvalve PV-01 is used to control the amount of air flow released fromT-1. (SeeFig.1).The tank requires a pressure Bang-Bang (ON-OFF) control system. Thesystemstarts the compressor via a control relay PY-01. In addition, itmust use thenormally closed solenoid valve PV-01 to control the pressure insidethe tank.The tank pressure must be kept between two limits: π‘ƒπ‘™π‘œπ‘€ and π‘ƒβ„Žπ‘–π‘”β„Žsensed bypressure switches PS-01A and PS-01B, respectively. The pressureswitches willsend electric signals to the controller PC-01 so this device sendsanotherelectric signal to fully open or close PV-01 (See Fig.3).The control strategy works as follows: when the tank pressure isbelow π‘ƒπ‘™π‘œπ‘€,switches PS-01A and PS-01B send 0V to the controller which mustsend a low-level voltage signal (0V) to close PV-01. This will increase thepressure in thetank. When the pressure reaches and passes π‘ƒπ‘™π‘œπ‘€, the output ofPS-01A changesto a high-level voltage signal but the controller still maintainsPV-01 in theclosed position. When the pressure reaches π‘ƒβ„Žπ‘–π‘”β„Ž, both switchessend high-levelvoltage signals to the controller. The controller will send a 5Vsignal to closePV-01. When the pressure decreases and stays below π‘ƒβ„Žπ‘–π‘”β„Ž, thecontrollerkeeps the valve open. This state won’t change until the pressuredecreasesbelow π‘ƒπ‘™π‘œπ‘€ and the control sequence restarts.The contact outputs of the pressure switches can work at voltagesin the range0-110 VAC. Therefore, they can operate at 5 VDC, as the Arduino.However, thesolenoid valve coil and the relay coil which must be controlled bythe Arduinowork at 24 VDC. The figures and symbols for the pressure switch,control relayand the solenoid valve are shown in Fig. 2.1. Explain the conceptual design required for the pressure controlsystemusing the components available and adding the electroniccomponentsrequired for electric compatibility and safe operation. Justifyyour design.2. Draw the circuit diagram with all the required connections ofsensors andactuators to the Arduino system.3. Describe and plot the expected time behavior of the pressure inthe tank.
