1. Examine the following information. Scenario: You work as an electronic tech responsible for the maintenance and modification of a manufacturing line. One of the stations on a conveyor system is supposed to unload pallets when they reach the stations. The conveyor is moving too fast for the pallets to stop accurately at the station. The motor running the conveyor is not capable of variable speed, but it will run at a slower speed with a lower supply voltage. Your job is to design a circuit that will sense the presence of a pallet and slow the conveyor so that it will stop more accurately at the station. General instructions: • Design the circuit simulation to operate with the Speed/Power Control panel on the left hand side of the trainer and the Discrete Sensor Panel on the right. • Select a sensor to detect the presence of a wooden pallet. • Use the motor on the Speed/Power Control Panel as the conveyor motor. • The operator uses a toggle switch to turn the conveyor system on and off. The conveyor stops when the pallet hits a limit switch. Use the N.C. push- button as the limit switch. • The conveyor should start in high speed (24 VDC applied). . When the sensor detects a pallet the conveyor should switch to slow speed (12 VDC applied) so that the limit switch stops the conveyor more accurately. • Hint: Use the mechanical relay as part of the speed control circuit.
