1.19 A line shaft assembly is shown in figure 1.10. The 1 500 mm belt pulley receives 75 kW from a horizontal drive on the left and it runs at 300 r/min. Of this power, a spur gear, G, with a pitch circle diameter of 400 mm de- livers 45 kW to a gcar located to its right and lower, the line connecting their centres forming an angle of 60° with the horizontal (this drive is on the side opposite to that of the belt drive). The balance of the power is delivered by a 300 mm pitch circle diameter spur gear, H, the normal tooth pressure (F.) being vertically upward. The spur gears are 20 involute form. The belt pulley weighs 2 000 N for flywheel effect, but the weight of the gears may be neg- lected. Design the shaft, making the following assump- tions: belt tension ratio T 2; t = 40 MPa; o, = 55 MPa. T.
