Consider a program with an average execution time of 25 nanoseconds for each instruction on an unpipelined computer. Each such instruction can be evenly distributed on a pipelined machine with 5 stages (similar to LEGV8). Due to pipelining, each stage is added with an overhead of 0.1 nanoseconds. Assume there are 1000 instructions in the program. a. What is the speed up of the pipeline machine in comparison to the unpipelined computer? b.
