Two very small spheres of equal volume and densities 2.1g/cm³ and 4.1g/cm³ are attached to the ends of a string of negligible mass and volume and in such a way that when it is stretched the distance between their centers is 10 cm; the assembly thus formed is thrown into a saline solution whose density varies with depth h according to the equation, p=1+10-⁴h.
