(a) Compute the binding energy for material X where effective masses of an electron and of a hole are me* = 0.22 m₂ and m₁* = 0.34 m₂, respectively. The dielectric constant of X is 16.2 and its energy gap is 0.37 eV. (b) Calculate the energy of the exciton at n = 2, n is the principal quantum number based on your (a) answer. [Optional] Use the value of Rydberg energy of 13.6 eV.
