In current Hong Kong design practice, when analysing the
required stabilisation forces for a slope with safety margin does
not satisfy the standard (e.g. FoS < 1.4 for a category 1
slope), the point loads are usually applied at the slope surface.
What would be the difference if the point loads are applied at the
critical slip surface? Please explain with details.
