The shown hall, which is located in Amman (32°N), is to be air conditioned. The ceiling height is 4 m. The hall has 8 glass windows, each 4x2 m and Two wooden door of 5 x 2m. Adjoining building and spaces above the ceiling and below the floor are at 34.3°C. The following data are given: Inside design conditions: 20 °C db and 50% RH. Outside design conditions: 40°C db and 26 °C wb. Outside mean temperature is 29.4°C. Overall heat transfer coefficients are: 1.2 W/m2°C for walls (color: light, construction type: D), 1.3 W/m²°C for ceiling (not suspended, type N° 3), 2.1 W/m°°C for floor, 5.6 W/m² °C for glass windows and 3.5 W/m° °C for wooden door. Occupancy: 40 persons with sensible and latent heat gains of 100 and 45 W/person, respectively. Lights: 25 W/m of floor area with free hanging fixture. Infiltration: 3L/s per person.
