You randomly assigned patients with depression to the treatment group or to the control group. The control group received the usual care. Usual care for depression is a prescription for Prozac. The treatment group received a prescription for Prozac in addition to a biweekly call from their social worker case manager. At three months, 5 patients in the treatment group was hospitalized for depression. At six months, 6 patients in the control group was hospitalized for depression.
