On the basis of the solubility rules, suggest one method by which you might separate the ammonium ion (NH4D) from the barium ion (Ba25). Assume these ions are already dissolved in solution along with a spectator ion like the chloride ion (CI). Hint, solids and liquids are easily separated by filtration. Add sodium sulfate to precipitate out barium sulfate which can be filtered. Add sodium carbonate to precipitate out barium carbonate which can be filtered. Add sodium carbonate to precipitate out ammonium carbonate which can be filtered. Add sodium chloride so the cations stay in solution.
