A thin-walled cylindrical tube made of T4 temper 6061 Aluminum Alloy is closed at both ends and subjected to an internal pressure P = 3 MPa. A torque T= 500 Nm is also applied to the tube as shown in Fig. 1. The tube has an internal diameter d = 80 mm and a wall thickness t = 2 mm (the average diameter = 82 mm). T4 temper 6061 Aluminum Alloy has an ultimate tensile strength of 207 MPa and yield strength of 110 MPa. a) Calculate the tangential (hoop) and axial stresses in the tube.
