Example - 22 (Design) : A doubly reinforced beam 300 mm x 500 mm in section is subjected to a factored moment of 250 kN.m. Find numbers of 16 mm diameter bars to be provided as tension and compression reinforcement. Take effective cover as 40 mm on both sides. Use M20 concrete and F. 415 steel. (GTU, Dec. 2010, May 2017)
