Example-22: A simply supported beam 230 mm x 500 mm effective and 8 mm span is subjected to factored u.d.l. of 45 kN/m. The beam is reinforced with 6 nos. 20 mm diameter steel bars. Design for shear reinforcement. The ends of the beam are not confined by compressive reaction. Take M 20 concrete and Fe-415 steel.
