The wood specie is Yakal w/ 63% stress grade. Bending loads will
be about the strong axis of the cross-section. The members are
braced so buckling is not a concern. The moisture content is <
19%. Normal temperature conditions apply. Assume no incising was
incorporated for addition of preservatives and that a fire
retardant factor = 1.0 is applied. Use 95% exceedence for MOE such
that E0.05 = E [ 1- 1.645COVE ] where COVE = 0.25 for VSG lumber
and COVE = 0.11 for MSG lumber. Furthermore, the adjusted modulus
of elasticity is given by E' = E0.05 x (product of all applicable
adjustment factors). Use appropriate CD used based on the provided
load combination (D+L). FOR THE SECTION Roof beams are 4" x 10"
(nominal size) with a spacing of 1.2m based on center.
Determine the allowable design stresses (capacity or design
values) and modulus of elasticity for the member for the load
combination, D+L.
