A tunnelling construction site consists of two 10 m clay layers. The top layer has a strength of си = 90 kPa and the bottom layer has cu = 60 kPa. The contractor proposed a 20m x 25m x 0.6m raft foundation placed at 4m below ground level to support 20 bentonite storage tanks. The inner diameter of each tank is 5m, and the height is 24m.
