When designing a highway, safety is the primary concern. When
the horizontal and vertical alignments are combined, the design can
be challenging. Recently, on the curve of a two-lane rural highway
with two 12-ft lanes as illustrated in the figure below, a fatal
crash in which the driver traveled eastbound and hit a roadway
object occurred at night. The lawsuit alleged that the 50-mph
posted speed limit is unsafe for this curve and a major cause of
the crash. As a designer, please evaluate this design and provide
