Biochemists often use an oversimplified analysis of the Hill
coefficient based upon the following binding reaction, where P is a
protein, L is ligand, and n is the number of ligands that can bind
to the protein:
P + nL <--> P•nL
Below write out the equation for the dissociation constant for
this binding reaction.
Below write a linear form of a binding equation based upon your
equation for the dissociation constant above (you can use Box 14.2
from the text as a reference).
Provide an explanation why this interpretation of the Hill
coefficient is not a physically plausible analysis.
