1. A furniture company makes TABLE and CHAIR. Each TABLE requires 3 hours for carpentry work and 2 hour for painting. Each CHAIR requires 2 hours for carpentry and 1 hour for painting. The company has a maximum of 60 hours of carpentry work and 40 hours of painting available each week, and they make a profit of $15 per TABLE and $40 per CHAIR. Read the above scenario and answer the following questions. (15 marks) A. Formulate an appropriate LPP for the above scenario to find the maximum profit.(5 marks) (Marking Scheme: 2 marks for objective function, 2 marks for the constraints and 1 marks for the non- negativity constraints) B. Solve the LPP using graphical method to find the optimal solution (8 marks) (Marking Scheme: 2 marks for finding the points for drawing lines; 2 marks for drawing graph; 1 mark for feasible region; 1 mark for finding optimal values, 1 mark for finding the unknown point using elimination method and 1 marks final solution) C. How many TABLE and CHAIR should they make to get maximum profit?( 2 marks)
