1. Gas turbine, with heat generator of effectiveness 80%, has turbine efficiency of 85%. Air inlet temperature and pressure to the compressor is 305 K and 100 kPa, respectively. Air outlet temperature and pressure at the exit of compressor is 900 kPa and 660 K, respectively. The air temperature before entering turbine is 1400 K. Assume air-standard condition. a. Sketch the T-s diagram. Show the heat flows. [5 marks] b. Calculate the heat regenerated [11 marks] c c. Find the thermal efficiency ,[4 marks] d. A consultant commented that this operation of the gas turbine with heat regenerator has saved more than 20% of energy than the one without the heat regenerator. Evaluate his claim and give comment.
