The screw-arrangement exerts a load P = 25,000 lbf
for the yoke-hatch assembly. The screw is 2 3⁄4 in. in
outside diameter.
(a) Determine the force, lbf, required at the rim
of the 12-in-diameter wormgear drive, assuming that
the coefficients of thread and collar friction are 0.125
and 0.03, respectively, and that the mean radius of the
collar is 2 1⁄2 in. (Use Table from page 1)
(b) Determine the efficiency of the power screw.
