The old Hydraulics laboratory in Civil Engineering Department used a roof tank to supply apparatus with water at a nearly constant head. The water was collected in an underfloor sump, then pumped back to the roof tank after the experiment (see Fig. Q4 below). The flowrate was 10 litress! The tank was 6 m above the sump, and the length of the pipe route was 15 m. The old 6" (152.4 mm) pipes are now heavily corroded (k = 7.5 mm). The old pump has been scrapped. Evaluate and calculate:
