I grew up in Guatemala in a family of 4 sisters and my parents
were happily married, they shared the responsibilities at home.
Until the day I turned 13, unfortunately my father passed away. It
was very difficult for all of us to lose our father, and it was
even more difficult for my mother to be able to raise her four
daughters on her own. It's been 24 years and fortunately we are all
fine, learning from life and trying to be the best version of
ourselves.
What could have helped or made a difference for me and my family
would have been if the school where we studied had given us
psychological help. When you are a child it is very important to
have the necessary support to be able to overcome a situation as
difficult as this one. I would have loved to have had the help of a
professional for mental, emotional and spiritual health.
This event from my childhood impacted my life as an adult, in
learning to value life more. To be grateful every day for being
alive sharing with the people we love. And unlike my childhood
growing up in a big family, my husband and I decided to have only
one daughter.
1) state how their story impacted you.

3) comment that you appreciate them sharing their story
4) comment something that you learned or never considered
before.
