Q4 R4 12% R3 12K + VS 15V R5 + R2 3.3K RT 3.3k-3 In the bridge circuit above RT is a resistive displacement transducer. Its resistance varies linearly between 3.3k for zero displacement and 3.9k for a displacement of 10 mm. Hence we expect the resistance to be 3.6k at a displacement of 5mm. The read out device is a simple moving coil meter (with FSD = 104A) in series with a resistor Rs, such that the total resistance R5 = Rcoll+ Rs where Rs is a high precision resistor chosen such R5 is the required resistance for the application. a a) Calculate a total value of R5 that would result in a carrent of 10 uA flowing when RT = 3.9k. (5 marks] b) Using this value of R5 calculate the current that would flow when RT = 3.6k. [3 marks] c) Estimate the deviation from ideal linearity at the mid-position (b) and calculate the % non- linearity (discrepancy as % of full scale). [2 marks]
