I've been an LVN for 11 years and am so excited to finally be
able to start my RNBSN! I am married with two small boys ages
3 and 5. My husband owns his own construction materials
business and I work as a correctional nurse and we live on a small
cattle ranch. I was so excited to find this program that can work
around my schedule and allow me to return to school even with
little ones at home. I completed most of my prerequisite
courses at my local community college, however the wait list for
most colleges around my area are 5+ years and I wanted to get my
BSN done as soon as possible.
My mom is the reason I became a nurse, she is a family nurse
practitioner who worked her way up from being a candy
striper. She has always encouraged me to continue on with school
and possibly perusing my FNP also, but first I want to get through
this program. I plan on staying on PRN with my current
job so I can devote all of the time needed for this program, but
after I graduate I do plan on going back to corrections. I
absolutely love working in the corrections field, its a new job
every day and you're always learning new things and kept on your
toes.
I'm looking forward to an amazing first semester with all of
you! Any advice you might have for me on this program and ways to
stay organized with all the different classes would be great! Good
luck everyone!
