A recent publication examined possible risk factors for heat-related mortality due to hyperthermia among emergency department patients in California (Ann Epidemiol 2021;64:90-5). All persons who visited an emergency department (ED) in the state of California and who died of hyperthermia (n = 78) and a random selection of 385 persons with an ED visit during the same time period (2009-2012) of the same age and sex but who did not die of hyperthermia, were investigated. Medical records were reviewed. A history of alcohol use disorder was found in 25 of the hyperthermia deaths and 35 of the persons without a hyperthermia death. The study design is best described as a (Highlight and/or bold the one best answer): 12. Cross-sectional study Case-control study Cohort study Clinical trial 13. Draw a 2 X 2 contingency table demonstrating the relationship between hyperthermia death (present or absent) and alcohol use disorder (present vs. absent) in this study population. For full credit, the table must be labeled correctly and all internal boxes and marginal totals must be filled appropriately. Label: Label: Label: Label: 14. Calculate the odds ratio of alcohol use disorder among ED patients with a hyperthermia death compared with ED patients without hyperthermia mortality (and show your work):
