1. Provide the biochemical definition of energy and briefly explain what happens to the net free energy content of any given macromolecule during metabolic processes of catabolic and anabolic reactions. 2. Briefly discuss about the hydrolysis of ATP and Compare and contrast the hydrolysis of PEP. Phosphocreatine, and Acetyl-CoA. Why does the hydrolysis of human RBCs yield less ATP compared to that of myocytes? 3. During cellular breakdown of glucose into CO2 electron carriers play a pivotal role in the transfer of electrons and protons into high energy currency called ATP. Briefly discuss two electron carrier molecules during such Redox reactions and name the corresponding enzymes/and or co-factors/that mediate the ETC. Give one example of health problem that may arise when the electron carriers are not functioning. 4. Define the TCA, Glyoxylate, and Urea cycles, discuss the physiological significance of each, and then finally compare and contrast the three of them.
