The owner of the company is concerned about the company IT
systems being hacked. They/he/she is hearing about hackers on
the news and companies going out of business or loosing many
thousands or millions of dollars due to the hacks.
They/he/she have heard about software and techniques that can
be used to test our IT infrastructure as a hacker would and get a
report that shows our weaknesses.
Your supervisor has asked you to provide information to the
owner (who is not tech savvy).
What software would you recommend to do penetration tests
against the network from the public side?
What potential issues are there with using such software?
Who would you recommend running the tests? The IT
Department or a third-party company?
What reporting is available for the software?
