Please read these instructions thoroughly as lot of information is different than previous weeks. Purpose: Remember these two learning outcomes? Describe, compare, and contrast the core explanations for behavior offered by the following major perspectives in psychology: Biological, Psychodynamic, Behavioral, Humanistic, Cognitive, and Sociocultural. Describe, and at a basic level analyze and critique, significant psychological terms, concepts, principles, and theories within the major perspectives in psychology. This is a quarter-long assignment that will involve tracking how the textbook's material relates to these 6 major perspectives. Task: Due by 11:59PM on Friday, June 10th. Continue to review Table 1.1 in your textbook and this article e for an understanding of the different perspectives. You should have 18 entries logged so far. This week you will add NINE (9) more entries to the same document for a total of 27, and each perspective should have at least 3 entries in it when you are done. This week's entries should rt include: • 3 entries from last week's modules 40-43 (psychological disorders). • 3 entries from this week's modules 44-46 (therapy). Note the focus on many of these perspectives in your therapy handout! • 3 entries from Table 39.2 in module 39 (personality): You do NOT have to read the personality modules to complete your entries this week. You just need to look at this table (image attached below in case you can't find it in your textbook). A few tips: as you learned from the therapy modules, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic both fall under the psychodynamic perspective. Also, as was the case with therapy, these personality theories are well- aligned with the perspectives we've been focusing on this quarter (note that trait theory would best fall under the biological perspective). So entries this week could be: "The psychodynamic theory of personality". "The humanistic theory of personality, etc. Just pick 3 theories of personality to discuss. A little more info on the hom
A little more info on the humanistic perspective because we will be more directly addressing this perspective in the next couple weeks. I'd suggest reading this article for more information on the humanistic perspective, particularly the "Basic Assumptions" section.c In general, the humanistic perspective really focuses on personal agency and worth, our innate need to strive for self- improvement and self-actualization (i.e. fulfilling one's potential) and live a meaningful life, and our ability to overcome pain and hardship. Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers are two important humanistic psychologists you will come across in your textbook. Please continue to put new entries in a different color or in italics or bolded each week so that I can easily find them. ONLY those 9 new entries need to be different (all other entries from past weeks should be black/unbolded/no italics). Each entry should include: 1) a psychological term, concept, principle, or theory (a word or phrase), 2) the textbook module it is from, and a couple sentences that include 3) a description of the term in your own words (do NOT copy the definition directly from the textbook) AND 4) a justification of why you logged it under that particular perspective. rt Remember that all 3 entries should include a description of the term as well as a justification of why you logged it under that perspective. Specific information from the textbook is welcome!
