Think about the concept of jealousy. Is it the same for you as
envy? If not, why not? (I’d say that jealousy is always negative.)
Do an analysis to bring out the difference, if you believe that
there is one. (Remember here the distinction I made between moral
goodness and saintliness. You can state the difference, if you see
one, along the same lines.) A stereotypical case of jealousy would
be Othello’s emotional state in the play named after him. Here is
Shakespeare’s description of the emotion. Oh, beware, my lord, of
jealousy! It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock The meat it
feeds on. By this Shakespeare means that Jealousy laughs mockingly
at the jealous person. But why? This is not clear at all.
