Assume that U.S. radio astronomers have received and decoded a message from life-forms from a planet around the M-Dwarf, Proxima Centauri. They have fast but sub-light-speed spaceship, but they have already left the planet (4.25 light-years away), and will arrive at Earth in 5 years. (a) Craft a press release from the U.S. President to the American people (and the world), telling them of this momentous event. (b) How do you think the American public would react?
