Therotical Yield
In lab we synthesized a Grignard Reagent from
4-bromotoluene and magnesium metal = phenyl magnesium
bromide
We then reacted propionaldehyde with the Grignard Reagent
to yield, I believe, 1-(4-Methylphenyl)-1propanol
I used for the Grignard Reagent:
1.23 mL of 4-bromotoluene
0..335 g of magnesium metal
I used for the reaction with the Grignard Reagent:
0.423 ml of propionaldehyde
What is my theoretical precent yield ?
