A 65-year-old female (BMI=27, mild obesity) was examined for limited use of her right knee together with increasing levels of right knee pain after walking over the last 12 months. She could only walk with a walking aide. She had difficulty standing from a seated position. Because of the pain, she had reduced her overall activity which had led to significant weight gain over the last 12 months. The joint was visibly enlarged and and felt hard to touch. The patient was both Rheumatoid factor- and ACPA-negative. Imaging of the patient's right knee (shown on the right below) indicated that the joint space was significantly narrowed and the cartilage had been eroded when compared to the normal control (shown on the left). normal patient What is the likely diagnosis for the patient (1 mark)?
