Why during the hydrolysis of p-bromoacetanilide:
a) boiling ethanol is added (while dissolving the
bromoacetanilide)
b) after which concentrated hydrochloric acid is added with a
dropping funnel while boiling a mixture of bromoacetanilide with
ethanol
c) why do we want to obtain a weakly alkaline solution after the
reaction?
By what mechanism does p-bromoacetanilide hydrolysis occur? Is this
reaction exo-energetic or endo-energetic?
