Needing to climb up a tree so that he may speak face-to-face with his ent friend Freebeard, Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck tosses one end of a rope up and over a branch that sticks out horizontally from the tree's trunk. After being tossed into the air, the end of the rope goes up, barely clears the tree branch, and then falls back down on the other side. Assuming that Merry released the end of the rope 1.47 m above the ground and that the tree branch is 6.75 m above the ground, at what speed (in m/s) did he toss the end of the rope?
