Spillway is designed to discharge 16,000 m3/sec when the maximum
flood inflow of 500 years is 18,000 m3/sec. There are 6 sluice
gates in spillway, and one sluice gate is 15.5 m wide. Flood is
discharged through these six spillway channels. Answer the
questions given the conditions in the table below.
Hs(static head)= 19m
the slope of the downstream surface= Vertical : Horizontal=
1: 0.75
upstream= Vertical : Horizontal= 3 : 0
Downstream floor height: 53m
the depth of the entrance stilling basin: 3.871m
the velocity of the flow at the entrance stilling basin(V1)=
37.41m/sec
Fr= 6.073
1. Design the curved surface of spillway.
2. Find the minimum height and length of stilling
basin.
3. Find the longitudinal curve of the spillway and the
cross-section of stilling basin.
