Construction Management Proposal
You are employed in a main contractor. Your company just awarded
a building project at Tuen Mun. This is a comprehensive development
project which consists of four blocks residential building (30
stories), two stories podium, club-house, outdoor swimming pool,
ground floor landscape area and 15m wide waterfront promenade.
Mixed development of the site will be permitted for the
following uses, provided that the design and layout of the
development is to a high standard commensurate with its position as
a gateway site.
Retail Offices
Residential Community
provided that:
a.any retail development is confined to the ground and first
floor
b.the residential amenity of the surrounding area is not adversely
affected
This project will not cause any adverse traffic, environmental,
air ventilation, visual and geotechnical impact on the area. Some
environmental friendly design is considered to be used in the
project, such as precast concrete panel and green roof etc.
Your group is required provide a fully detailed construction
management proposal regarding this development project. Facing a
number of issues and concerns, the Contractor is required to submit
a planning proposal to address the issues, including
(1) Principles of planning, organising and controlling in
managing construction projects;
(2) Design and implement a sound methodology in controlling the
progress of construction work;
(3) The organization structure, work programme and quality and
safety measures of a construction project; and
(4) Professional ethics and responsibilities in construction
sites.
Your written presentation will have to make clear
recommendations with some indication of the variance based upon
your analysis.
