Question 7 A riverbed consists of a layer of sand 8.25 m thick overlying impermeable rock; the depth of water is 2.8 m. A long cofferdam 5.5 m wide is formed by driving two lines of sheet piling to a depth of 6.0 m below the level of the riverbed and excavation to a depth of 2.0 m below bed level is carried out within the cofferdam. The permeability of sand is 2.6x105 m/s. Pore pressure at point A is: 5.50m- 1 4 TAK O 13.5 kPa O 15,4 kPa O9,0 kPa 11.2 kPa Sheet pilling 0.90 m 19 Datum 2.00m Sheet pilling 6.00m 2.25m
