BASED ON NSCP 2015 PLS ONLY FILIPINO
A column 800mm in diameter is reinforced with 12-25 mm diameter
bars and 12mm diameter spirals spaced at 72mm on centers. Use phi =
0.75, f'c = 30 MPa, fy = 413 MPa for main bars and fyt = 275 MPa
for spirals. Allowable shear stress for concrete = 0.90 MPa
a) What is the nominal shear strength provided by the
concrete?
b) What is the nominal shear strength provided by the shear
reinforcement?
c) Find the shear stress in the column if Vu = 800 kN?
