Question 3 (100 marks) Spraying agricultural chemicals is an effective way to control insects, diseases and weeds and is important for growing high-yielding, quality crops. A field crop sprayer has a horizontal boom with 40 nozzles spaced 0.5 m apart. The sprayer is travelling at the speed of v= 2.49 m/s. Calculate the required time to cover one hectare of field. If this sprayer pump is spraying at 76.51 L/ha, calculate the required pump flow rate (L/s) of the sprayer. If the sprayer is to cover 8 ha per tank of spray, recommend a suitable tank size.
