Problem 2 (30 points) A shaping filter H, (w) used for vestigial sideband (VSB) modulation is shown below, H(c) 1 1/2 -00, 60₂ 60, (0₂ ₂00₂ 60% 6₂ where w₁ = 10000m rad/s, w₂= 12000m rad/s, w3= 14000m rad/s, w, 18000m rad/s, and ws 20000 rad/s. The carrier frequency is we = 11000 rad/s and the baseband signal bandwidth is 7000 rad/s. Consider the block diagram in the lecture notes for VSB modulation and demodulation. a) Sketch the corresponding receiving filter H,(w). Assume H, (w) = 0 for lw] ≥ 7000 rad/s. b) Write the mathematical expression of H, (w) in terms of the rectangular function (see the definition of the rectangular function below). c) By using the inverse Fourier transform, find the mathematical expression of ho(t).
