iron with aluminium. The cast iron pot weighs 2.9 kg while the
equivalent aluminium pot weighs 1 kg. The carbon footprint of cast
iron is 2.1 kg/kg. The carbon footprint of virgin aluminium is 12
kg/kg, and recycled aluminium is 2.6 kg/kg. Based solely on the
carbon footprint of the product, should the manufacturer switch to
aluminium with 60% recycled content, or continue to use cast iron?
