1 GPS Part Question 1, understanding of GPS Principle [20 marks] There are two sub-questions as follows: (a) Analyse and formulate the principles of the GPS pseudorange measurements, analyse and discuss various errors sources of the pseudorange measurement and their statistical values. [12 marks] (b) Briefly describe the basic block diagram architecture of a modern GPS receiver and explain functions of each component/module in this architecture. [8 marks] The solution report for Question is limited to no more than paper 4 pages. Question 2, Understanding of GPS Positioning Applications [30 marks] There are two sub-questions as follows: (a) Based on Question 1 (a), develop the mathematical algorithms (LS or WLS) of the GPS positioning solution, describe and analyse the GPS positioning errors, draw the computing flow chart. [20 marks] (b) Based on Question 1 (a), briefly describe technical solutions or methods to remove or reduce various error sources of the pseudorange measurement [10 marks] The solution report for Question is limited to no more than paper 4 pages.
