Do you agree or disagree with this post? Why?
Bomba’s leaders made a choice when creating an organizational structure this choice was to work based on the need of the community and the company’s employees as well. According to the book an organizational structure is a formal system of task and reporting relationships that coordinates and motivates organizational members, so they work together to achieve organizational goals. As the article goes along the company’s leaders show the type of environment, benefits, and goals.
The four types of organizational structures are:
Functional, a functional org structure starts with positions with the highest levels of responsibility at the top and goes down from there.
Divisional, is an organizational structure composed of separate business units within which are the functions that work together to produce a specific product for a specific customer.
Product Team Structure, is an structure in which employees are permanently assigned to a cross-functional team and report only to the product team manager or to one of the manager’s direct subordinates.
Matrix structures, is an organizational structure that simultaneously groups people and resources by function and product.
From where I can see the article gives very little of information about the type of organizational structure Bomba’s is under. At the end of the article, they mention a CEO which it could mean that they implemented a functional organization structure. According to the book this type of structure has advantages such as encourages learning from others doing similar jobs and disadvantages that basically revolves around problems of communication.
Bomba’s is implementing a form of positive space that makes the worker feel like they are doing more than just working. Aside from the fact that the main goal is to help the community by working, this company offers the employee more than job. According to the article Bomba’s “Teamwork shared goals and team spirit”. Every new employee feels welcome and this action creates a reliable work environment where you can create friendships and bonding. This type of positive space creates a familiar type of environment. as for the behavior the employees even though are not very explicit in the article it makes it sound like they enjoy their work place and what they do for living, which causes low rates of mistakes.
When something is intrinsic is an essential part of a whole, so intrinsically describes something closely connected to or inseparable from something. Bomba’s can’t sell without donating they are essential to each other “For every item purchased, a specially designed item is donated to a member of the homeless community.”
Prosocial behaviors are those intended to help other people, which is the main purpose of the company. “The company’s passion for giving back is deeply embedded in its mission and culture.”
