Many people believe that society should focus on providing
everyone an ‘equal opportunity’ so that wage outcomes are based on
‘merit.’ But why is income inequality that arises from merit --
most of which can be traced to people's IQ which they are born
with, attractiveness which is hard to change, skill at using their
hands or feet in sport and/or confidence and personality -- any
better than wage outcomes that arise from other factors like
gender, ethnicity, etc?
