Question 1: A cylindrical shell is required to operate under conditions of 16 bargs internal pressure. The inner diameter is 0.6 m and joint efficiency is 0.9. The allowable stress of the material depends on temperature as follow. For above 480 °C: Sa (N/mm²) = -0.09017 (°C) + 155.9 For below 480 °C: Sa (N/mm²) = -0.73587 (°C) + 463.4 Sketch a plot representing the effect of design temperature on the minimum thickness of the shell.
