The inner surface of a wall of a residential building receives heat by forced convection from air at 25°C. The convective heat transfer coefficient is 40 W/m²K. The wall is made of brick of thermal conductivity 0.15 W/mK, and thickness 6 cm. The outer surface of the wall loses heat by free convection to ambient air at 10°C. The heat transfer coefficient is 20 W/m²K. Calculate (i) the overall heat transfer coefficient, (ii) the rate of heat loss from the wall to the ambient and (iii) the temperature at the outer surface of the wall.
