Scissor Lifts (See Figure 1) are commonly used in industry by different personnel (such as maintenance crew, painters) etc. to reach the inaccessible part/item. Your job as an engineer is to design a portable, compact, power-driven, affordable and very sturdy scissor lift that is safe to use. (80 Marks)
1. Interview friends/family members (or use your imagination) to come up with customer verbatim. (3 Marks) 2. Convert customer verbatim into customer needs and prioritize them on the Scale, 1 to 10. (4 Marks) 3. Using the customer needs, establish the metrics and associated units. Develop a Needs- Metric Matrix. (3 Marks) 4. Make a functional/affinity diagram for the scissor lift. Use Verb-Noun list given in lecture notes. (5 Marks) 5. Develop competitive benchmarking chart based on metrics (i.e., have a look at the scissor lifts available in the market/online). (5 Marks)
