Part B: Problems Solving ( /20) De Problem 1: ( /10) Spi Co Ca Gas properties are measured across one stage of a turbine in an impulse gas turbine system of 8 stages. The stagnation (total) temperature and pressure measured at the stator inlet are 1055 K and 415 kPa. respectively. The stagnation (total) pressure measured at the rotar outlet is 182 kPa. The tangential velocity (mean blade speed) is 260 m/s and the flow velocity after the stator is 630 m/s. The flow angles at the stator outlet and rotor outlet are 60 and 30°, respectively. The gas mass flow rate is 3 kg/s. Treat the gas as hot air with a specific heat ratio of 1.4. a) Complete the velocity triangle across a stage in the box shown below. Show all velocity components and location of the angles, 73 ( W /1.5 points) /60 polats) /25 points) b) Calculate the total power produced by the turbine (in kW), c) Calculate the stage efficiency.
